"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?" - Marianne Williamson.
I love this inspiring quote, did you know an equally inspiring true story matches it? In the 1950s a group of monks relocated Temples including a huge clay Buddha. When moving, the Buddha was accidentally cracked and the monks were astonished to find that beneath the thick clay, Buddha was solid gold! It had been covered hundreds of years earlier to protect it during a Temple invasion during the war!
I love this reminder of how we are so guilty of hiding our light today. How have you consciously or subconsciously worn a shell of ‘protection’ to get through life? Perhaps your run yourself into the ground to prove yourself because you fear you are not enough? Or in contrast you hold yourself back and not try at all for fear of failure? Do you relegate yourself to remain in the confines of the ‘norm’ because you are unsure what would happen if you allowed your true gold to shine? Telling yourself you are not good enough, strong enough, smart enough, etc?
Let’s all pledge to chip away the clay worn as ‘protection’ and reveal our true GOLD within! This is why we offer challenges at Tawa from time to time. Challenges, like our Buddy Challenge starting next Monday 19 August is not about competing or one upmanship. It is about inspiring you to believe in yourself, to shed the clay we carry and allow your gold to shine!
